Maybank VS CIMB GROUP


Malayan Banking (Maybank)

Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) is engaged in the business of banking and finance. The Company's subsidiaries are principally engaged in the businesses of banking and finance, Islamic banking, investment banking, including stock broking, general and life insurance, general and family takaful, trustee and nominee services, asset management and venture capital. Maybank made record profits of RM 3.82 billion in its latest financial year (FYE Jun 10).What a contrast from a year ago, when the country biggest bank had to make huge provisioning on its pricey acquisitions, the most controversial being the purchase of Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII).

Hmm..now we can look the Indonesian operations is now seen as the Maybank's next growth story. Congratulations Maybank :P



CIMB

Same in operations but different in strategy, CIMB come no 2 largest bank in Malaysia behind Maybank. However, CIMB look more stable in profits growth and its show in last financial report where latest net profits RM 3.05b (FYE 09/10) compare to RM 2.01b (FYE 08/09) before. here some of the CIMB operations around the world.

- Indonesia: CIMB Niaga (Bank Niaga and Bank Lippo), 6th largest bank
