Weight-Loss Can Increase Suicide Risk

A recent study has found that obese people who use surgery to lose weight are at a higher-than-usual risk of suicide in the years following the weight-loss procedure.

The report, in The American Journal of Medicine, adds to evidence that patients who have bariatric surgery to lose weight have an increased risk of suicide compared with the general population.
But the reasons for the pattern, researchers say, remain unknown. (Reuters)

The researchers are still in the dark as to the reason behind this phenomenon.
